The finalised list of #20BooksofSummer20 reads or what I actually read!

Book 1

My first read was The Case of the Demented Spiv, an Inspector Littlejohn Mystery, by George Bellairs.

Books 2 – 10

The next nine books, if you click on the title will take you to my thoughts, were as follows:-

I added A Rising Man as this was our book club read for July. When I originally picked my list the book club was just starting, what we would be reading hadn’t been chosen. So I swapped out The Phone Box At the Edge of the World for this book.

An Exhibition of Murder |Sleeping Sickness |Three Hours |Lies to Tell| Tell Me How it Ends | Utrecht Rain|Utrecht Snow |A Rising Man|Don’t Turn Around

Books 11 – 19

The Sleeping and the Dead by Ann Cleeves was my 11th read.

I added Closet Haikus and Rain Before Rainbows into my 20 as I read (and reviewed them) them in the correct period.

My 14th read was The Silent Wife by Karin Slaughter. My 15th book in the #20BooksofSummer20 was another book club read Their Little Secret by Mark Billingham.

Next were M J Lee’s Where the Truth Lies|Where the Silence Calls|Where the Dead Fall|These where books 16 – 18.

My 19th #20BooksofSummer20 book is Gone by Leona Deakin. So just one left to go!

The 20th and final read, phew!, of this years #20BooksofSummer20 is … drumroll … Bang Bang, You’re Dead by Evan Baldock.

I had been quite concerned about not reading the full 20 books this year but after a little jiggling with my original list – thank goodness Cathy’s rules allow it – I completed all 20!

Thanks

Thanks to Cathy over at 746 Books for hosting, once again, the Herculean challenge that is the 20 Books of Summer Challenge! I am especially relieved this year that the rules are so laid back and take into account so well what book lovers are like when it comes to lists of books and reading!

You can find out more about this challenge by popping over to Cathy’s blog – you’ll find lot’s of other wonderful book stuff there, too! You can, and IMO really should, follow her on Twitter. You can find her @cathy746books enjoy!

The books I didn’t get to

As always this has been a wonderful challenge. A bit messy for me this year until I realised that I should actually count the books I was reading rather than reading some books but not counting them in my #20BooksofSummer20 reads. 🤦🏼 Why would I do that? 🤷‍♀️ I think we all might know the answer to that! 😅📚🙄

Sadly it did mean that some books stayed on the TBR pile. They are: The Women at Hitler’s Table|A Single Thread|The Animals of Lockwood Manor|The Quaker|The Phone Box at the Edge of the World. I will get to them in due course when I look forward to reading them.

In conclusion

Well there we have it another wonderful summer of reading done. A year in which the world has been brought together for the most awful reason – Covid-19 and for the best reason – reading books! Sending love from our home to yours, keep safe and well, here’s to next years 20 Books of Summer and keep reading!
