What are you currently reading?

Having so recently finished Skin Deep by Antonia Lasso (translated by Jacky Collins) and published by Corylus Books I’ll be taking a moment to collect my thoughts on this compelling story for my post on 1st May.

Then I’ll be picking up Thirty Days of Darkness by Jenny Lund Masden (translated by Megan Turney) and published by Orenda Books.

What did you recently finish reading?

I’ve finished Skin Deep by Antonia Lassa (translated by Dr Jacky Collins) published by Corylus Books – for a BlogTour when I’ll be posting on 1st May.

When police arrest eccentric loner Émile Gassiat for the murder of a wealthy woman in a shabby seaside apartment in Biarritz, Inspector Canonne is certain he has put the killer behind bars. Now he just needs to prove it.

But he hasn’t reckoned with the young man’s friends, who bring in lawyer-turned-investigator Larten to head for the desolate out-of-season south-west of France to dig deep into what really happened.

Larten’s hunt for the truth takes him back to the bustle of Paris as he seeks to demonstrate that the man in prison is innocent, despite all the evidence – and to uncover the true killer behind a series of bizarre murders.

Skin Deep is Antonia Lassa’s first novel to appear in English.

I really enjoy this series and The Acapulco is a great read.

#INDIEAPRIL

April is indie month which, for me, mainly takes the form of supporting indie/small publishers and their authors so I’m thrilled to be reading and sharing my thoughts on books coming out of these amazing publishers – Renard Press, Orenda Books and Corylus Books. Four books through April/May all for blog tours.

I recently went to a Women’s Six Nation Rugby match in Newcastle (the Newcastle Falcons ground) and took the opportunity of being in the Northeast for a few days to visit two lovely independent bookshops – The Bound in Whitely Bay and Forum Books in Corby – and in the spirit of #IndieApril I just had to buy some books.

I’ve also been supporting Fahrenheit Press with purchases of mugs and as seen above a ‘bookish weirdo’ note book.

If you can, please support #IndieApril be it indie authors, booksellers or publishers – let’s do what we can whether it’s buying from indie retailers, direct from authors or publishers and reviewing books (in all the usual places) to supporting indie authors, publishers and booksellers online (Blogging, Social Media etc.) or by word of mouth it all helps.
