It’s WWW Wednesday!

WWWWednesdays meme, formerly hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm, has been revived and is now hosted by Taking on a World of Words.

What are you currently reading?

I am very behind on this series (I’ve read the first five) so when I realised No.9 will be released later in March it was time to crack on with book six When The Evil Waits by M J Lee. I have seven and eight waiting on my eReader and I’ve (pre) ordered What The Shadows Hide.

It’s so good when you settle in with familiar characters and find out what they’re up to since the previous book. Thomas Ridpath, a D.I. attached to the coroner’s office brings to crime fiction a different and refreshing viewpoint, along with the Coroner and her team, to investigations. After the devastating ending in the last book this one is not just bringing a heartbreaking story of the aftermath but also a cracking investigative storyline.

Book blurb

A child’s body in an unmarked grave. A killer waiting to strike again.

A young boy’s body is found in a meadow beside the River Mersey. No DNA. No witnesses. No clues. It brings back painful memories of the Moors Murderers.

After two weeks, the police have made no progress finding the killer. The one thing they do know; he will kill again. It is a race against time – and they are losing.

DI Thomas Ridpath has just returned to work. Diagnosed with PTSD and undergoing supervised psychological therapy, he is dragged into the case against his better judgement. When another child is kidnapped, Ridpath must confront his own demons to stop a killer before he strikes again.

What did you recently finish reading?

I’ve not read a book since Expectant by Vanda Symon which was a wonderful read.

I have been keeping up with several of my go to blogs and if you have a few minutes why not check them out:

Crime Writer Margot Kinberg | Finding Time to Write | HeavenAli |746books | Emma Timpany |Nordic Lighthouse | Kaggsy’s Bookish Ramblings | What Cathy Read Next |

They are terrific reads and you can find more to the right of my post.

T.V. I enjoyed watching all the episodes of Happy Valley over a couple of days so that I could watch the final episode ‘live’ on Sunday evening.

What do you think you’ll read next?

I’ve been invited to be a part of the promotion of a new book keep a look out tomorrow! I will be reading it and sharing my thoughts on it late Feb/early March.

I’ll also be on a BlogTour in April (my spot is 19th) for THE ACAPULCO by Simone Buchholz (translated by Rachel Ward) from Random Things Tours and publishers Orenda Books. I really enjoy Buchholz’ writing so couldn’t resist this book and I’m really looking forward to reading it.

Hotel Cartagena, the 4th book in the Chastity Riley series, was WINNER of the CWA Crime in Translation Dagger in 2022. I have also read and shared my thoughts on Beton Rouge | Mexico Street and have purchased but, not yet reviewed, Blue Night.

I’m also going to read Skin Deep by Antonia Lassa translated by Dr Jacky Collins from Corylus Books for a BlogTour.

This meme is a great way to keep my reading organised and share a regular weekly post with you. I hope that you enjoy it too. Do share your thoughts on this post and the books featured above by leaving a comment below. It’s always good to read what you think.

It’s a terrific series and I hope you enjoy it if you decide to read any. I would say start at the beginning as the characters storyline is built up over the series but the investigative storylines are pretty much standalone. The settings around Manchester are great. Janet
