Welcome March!

Reading Ireland Month

The Begorrathon

It’s 1 March so time to join me for this, the TWELFTH annual Reading Ireland Month as I celebrate all that is good about Irish books and culture.
It won’t be any fun without you, so grab the pin and add the link to your blog posts in the comments below, or tag me in your post. There have been a few planning posts already shared and I’ve listed them below.
This post will be pinned to the top of my blog for the whole of March and I’ll add your posts as we go along.
You can join in the conversation on the Begorrathon Facebook  page or on Instagram, X and Bluesky with the hashtags #readingirelandmonth26 or #begorrathon26 and if you are taking part in a Year With Iris Murdoch, the hashtag is #irismurdoch26

Reading Wales Month

The Dewithon

Now in its 11th year and hosted by Karen at BookerTalk who took over the baton last year (from Paula at BookJotter) and Kath at Nut Press will be co-hosting.

It’s pretty simple to join in, all you need to do is read ONE book written by an author from Wales. Any genre — fiction, poetry, essays, travel diaries, drama. And any author with a connection to Wales will count. Post your thoughts between 1 March and 31 March and, if you don’t have a blog, you can share on Instagram or Goodreads.

Karen has some great suggestions on where to start Reading Wales but you also could check out Kath’s Favourite Welsh Fiction post from last year for more terrific ideas.

From 1 March there will be a pinned post on Karen’s site with links to all your contributions. Karen and Kath would love you to join in during the month. Leave a comment on either blog to share any plans you have. You can help spread the word by using the image above, along with the hashtag #ReadingWales26 on your social media channels.

Before I get too carried away I have three reads already planned. The first, for the book club, is happily going to tie in nicely with Reading Ireland Month as it is by Steve Cavanagh who is from Northern Ireland so I have listed this and will link to my post which will go up later this week. The other two are my Classic Club spin 43 read, Memento Mori by Muriel Sparks and a blog tour read for Corylus Books The Murder Pool by Stella Blómkvist both I’m looking forward to though they won’t count to either of these challenges.

My Reads

I will list and link my posts to each book I read for either challenge below.

Reading Ireland Month

  1. Fifty Fifty by Steve Cavanagh

Reading Wales Month

This is my first time joining this challenge and I hope to read at least two books. Amazingly I have already posted my first!

  1. Mr Bosch and His Owls by Cath Barton
