A single ticket for a day of wonderful authors, catching up with bookish friends and enjoying stories about the dark side of life sprinkled with fun and laughter. The inaugural Stockport Noir Crime Fiction Festival was a tremendous success.

Next up was a terrific panel: A Hop Back in Time moderated by our main host Chris McDonald

The panel I looked forward to hearing the most: Call the Police! – it definitely lived up to expectations and more. Full of great stories, lots of fun and laughter.

Time for a break!

The bar was open for liquid refreshments throughout the day and provided a great space for lunch (which was bring your own) with tea and coffee provided throughout the day, some chose a trip to the nearby shop or a jaunt into town. Have you spotted a certain M W Craven?
Back to it!

After lunch came… wait for it… wait for it…
Suspense!
Moderated by Serenity Bookstore this was a lovely panel and we gave a great round of applause to both Caroline England and Natalie Chandler as it was their book publication day.

There was plenty of opportunity after each panel and throughout the day to buy a book or two or more and then get it/them signed by the author(s) and even a cheeky photo too!

The panel Crime With a Twist rounded off a very enjoyable day for us. It was a terrific, entertaining, engaging, welcoming and enjoyable day. Lots of lovely authors in a relaxed and friendly environment. A chance to catch up with bookish friends such as the lovely Jill (apologies for the terrible photo) of @JillsBookCafe here in the blue coat. It was so good to meet Anne Cater at last, her first outing since being in hospital, from Random Things Tours.

There were two further panels ‘In conversation…’ and ‘NCS: Whose Crime is it Anyway?’ Which I was very sad not to be able to stay for. Still, from all the reactions on social media, these were (no surprise) very good too.
All of these amazing authors, the venue, the technical details, the enthusiasm and the books were brought together by the incredible Chris McDonald and Serenity Booksellers along with their wonderful team and with the support of some great bookish sponsors. Thank you all – What a wonderful day!

It was great to catch up with you both again, and next meet up we can sort out a more relaxed cuppa! I did spot me and my blue coat and no apologies needed. Looking forward to seeing future announcements about guests, but the initial line up is pretty impressive in itself. Definitely, something to look forward to next year x

Lovely to see you too, Jill. I’ll get to take decent photos one day! 😅 Yes, a cuppa and chat to catch up soon will be lovely. Indeed, already getting an impressive line up, as you say, Jill. Mind you it was also good to see authors I’d not seen before and local/northern a really good mix this year. Yes, looking forward to it – probably my ‘go to’ event now as it’s so relaxed and not so far to travel. x
