A Readers Musings and Reviews
Fast-paced, plot-twisting, romantic thriller…
I was contacted by Julie, Lead Publicist at Quail Run Publishing Consultants and Marketing coordinator at Emerald-Design.co, who wondered if I might like to feature an authors first book – “Unbreakable” by Melissa Seal – here on Love books, Read Books?
I love to support authors when I can, crime fiction is a favourite genre and 🏳️🌈 is close to my heart so it was easy to say yes! Julie put Melissa in touch with me. So, without further ado, here’s Melissa …
Unbreakable – Why I chose this category?
I chose to write this book because I had a story to tell and this allowed me to tell it in a fun and exciting way. I have always loved crime fiction and romance, so why not put the two genres together?
The main characters are women who fall in love with each other and with that love comes many challenges. They run into problems at work and with their family and friends.
I think the way Lexie and Dani choose to handle those challenges are going to be helpful to some readers who may face the same challenges in their relationships.
Now, I’d love to share an excerpt of “Unbreakable” with you.
Excerpt from “Unbreakable”
Dani was in a remote area with two critically injured women and one very traumatized one. They certainly did not cover this scenario in the academy. Dani quickly dialed 9-1-1 and explained her situation.
The operator instructed, “remain calm and keep the gunshot victim awake as long as possible. Help is on the way; they should be there in fifteen minutes.”
Fuck lady do you realize how long fifteen minutes can be with two severely injured people and one severely traumatized girl?
Lexie was awake and understood the situation, “Dani, please don’t worry, I am way too pissed to die now.”
Well, thank you, Melissa it’s been lovely to have you aboard Love Books, Read Books today.
Folks, what more could you want from a book – a serial killer on the loose and a blossoming relationship?
So, just before you go, here’s everything else you need to know…
Book Blurb
Alexandra “Lexie” Fleming is the hottest detective on the Norfolk Police Department. She is on the trail of the “Last Call Killer,” a brutal serial killer who preys on college girls. Lexie is driven to solve the case even though her life is falling apart. She must find a way to stay one step ahead of the killer despite her grief over the sudden death of her partner and the betrayal she feels as her marriage implodes.
When Lexie’s new partner, detective Danielle Watkins, enters her already chaotic world, the tension is undeniable. Danielle is good at her job, strong-willed and just as stubborn as Lexie, and at first, they clash professionally. Danielle is also beautiful, and the electricity between the two detectives is impossible to ignore: the subtle touches, the lingering looks, the late-night conversations. Lexie is swept away by the forbidden feelings growing within her. As they track the killer, they come to trust and depend on each other, and their relationship deepens. Will they discover the killer’s identity in time to save his next victim? Will Lexie play it safe, or give in to her passion? Will the “Last Call Killer” destroy Danielle and Lexi, or will their love be unbreakable? Buy this fast-paced, plot-twisting, romantic thriller to find out.
